The Brain Fixer 3000
Earlier this year, my 12 year old son Liam spent his Mardi Gras holiday creating a new invention called The Brain Fixer 3000 made from a collander and headphones. He was frustrated with how difficult school has become and was afraid that he wouldn't pass a standardized test required by the state so that he could go on to the fifth grade. His sister, Mairin, was the first test case for his invention. He asked her a series of math questions, which she answered correctly. He declared The Brain Fixer 3000 a success and slapped it on his own head to see if it would help him think more clearly while he did his homework.
If life were that easy.
He has come a long way since he was diagnosed in April of 2000 with severe autism with a grim prognosis. Today, he is a happy, healthy 12 year old boy who loves many of the things his peers do and he works really hard to fit in at school. His peers have accepted him. He has friends and even a special little girlfriend.
Liam's life is different today because of the biomedical and behavioral interventions we were able to provide for him.
It has been our passion for the last 10 years to help other children unlock their potential and lead happy and fulfilling lives despite their initial diagnosis.
